Image Source: IANS News New Delhi, Dec 28 : TP Renewable Microgrid (TPRMG), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power, on Monday announced that it had inaugurated its first 5kW Bio-gas generating plant at Kamalpura (Basaitha) village in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar. The plant commenced operations on National Energy Conservation Day , on December 14. TPRMG constructed this plant in association with Grassroots Energy. The plant consumes cow dung which is procured from nearby villages and then it is processed through a Bio-digester to generate methane gas. This gas is then used to drive a specially designed 5kW generator to generate electricity which is fed to the adjoining 30kW microgrid generating station.

Japan unveils green growth plan for 2050 carbon neutral goal Business December 26, 2020 Tokyo: Japan on Friday unveiled plans to boost renewable energy, phase out gasoline-powered cars and reduce battery costs as part of a bid to reach an ambitious 2050 carbon-neutral goal. Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga announced the new 2050 goal in November, significantly moving up Japan´s timeline for carbon-neutrality. On Friday, his government laid out for the first time what meeting that target will involve, including setting a provisional goal of generating more than half of the country´s electricity from renewable sources by 2050. The government´s actions on the environment reflect our belief that a significant change of mindset is required and that these are not constraints for growth, rather they are drivers of growth, top government spokesman Katsunobu Kato told a regular briefing.
