Storage - Aalborg CSP receives certificate for its PTES technology from Lloyds Register - Renewable Energy Magazine, at the heart of clean energy journalism

Courtesy of Aalborg CSP. The certificate covers particular requirements and functions, including a minimum lifetime of 25 years, a minimum energy loss and an availability factor of 100 percent without risk of stoppages. Moreover, a minimum 90 percent of all materials used in a PTES are recyclable. Throughout the past years, low-temperature heat storage investments have been made to, among other things, further develop, optimise, and commercialise the complete PTES technology including the insulating lid cover. The latest achievements in improving the insulated PTES lid cover have further matured the PTES technology making it a bankable investment for utility companies worldwide. “Investments in energy infrastructure around storage of excess heating and low-temperature energy is an important building block in the sector-coupling and provides municipalities and energy operations companies with the necessary flexibility as a response to the increasing electrification of our socie

Hydrogen - Flemish expertise centres join forces with industry to push green hydrogen production forward - Renewable Energy Magazine, at the heart of clean energy journalism

Friday, 28 May 2021 Flemish research centres imec and VITO (both partners in EnergyVille), together with industrial pioneers Bekaert, Colruyt Group, DEME and John Cockerill have announced that they are joining forces to invest in the production of green hydrogen. Under the flag of Hyve, the consortium aims at a cost-efficient and sustainable production of hydrogen at gigawatt level. Hyve will put the Flemish region in the driver seat for the deployment of a hydrogen economy and the transition towards a carbon neutral industry in Europe. The EU’s commitment to reaching climate neutrality by 2050, as part of Europe’s Green Deal, will only be reached when it drastically transforms its energy system. Within the Green Deal, hydrogen technology is considered essential in the energy transition towards a carbon neutral society. Especially in the chemical industry, the steel and cement industry, and in heavy duty transport, green hydrogen is considered key in decarbonisation.
