PV - Nova Pangaea Technologies achieves technological validation of SARP (steam assisted rapid pyrolysis) technology - Renewable Energy Magazine, at the heart of clean energy journalism

Courtesy of Nova Pangaea Technologies The company received a £4.6 million grant from the Department of Transport in 2015 through the Advanced Biofuels Demonstration Competition (ABDC) and following construction of the plant has now achieved 100 hours of operation on its proprietary SARP (steam assisted rapid pyrolysis) technology, in addition to a continuous 24-hour operation in February. “SARP is our proprietary technology and phase three of the REFNOVA process” said CEO Sarah Ellerby. “This demonstrates the robustness of our technology which we will now accelerate onto modular design for scale and customer delivery. SARP produces valuable sugars for downstream product outputs for advanced biofuels and its lignin converts to biocarbons such as biochar. With the validation of our technology and the recent breakthrough, we are seeing significant global interest. Since January 2020, we have increased our headcount by 45 percent and continue to expand the operations and engin

Storage - Battery Development to Be Accelerated Through New Collaboration - Renewable Energy Magazine, at the heart of clean energy journalism

Courtesy of Oxford University It will work to accelerate research in future battery technologies byusing benchtop Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) to develop new methods to monitor reactions in battery cells and use this understanding to enhance their performance. It aims to contribute to the UK’s industrial strategy to fight climate change through the development of new technology for net zero-emission vehicles and will contribute to realising practical lifetimes for beyond Li-ion technologies such as the Lithium-Air battery that promises a step-change improvement in energy density.  Researchers will useX-Pulse, Oxford Instruments’ benchtop NMR spectrometer, to characterize the behavior of a wide range of different elements within novel battery material formulations during electrochemical processes. X-Pulse is the world’s only broadband X-nucleus benchtop NMR spectrometer.

PV - Fimer installs PVS-100 inverter for Australian craft brewing company - Renewable Energy Magazine, at the heart of clean energy journalism

Courtesy of Moon Dog Australian craft brewer Moon Dog Brewing, based in Melbourne, opened its new brewery in October 2019 and subsequently began to explore ways in which it could reduce its carbon footprint. Globally, smaller independent brew pubs and large international beer companies have seen the potential that solar power holds when it comes to offsetting the energy-intensive process of beer-making. Budweiser owned by AB InBev, signed the largest ever pan-European solar power deal for its 14 breweries spread across Europe in 2020, along with Heineken’s Sol brand committing to brewing with only 100 percent solar energy in the same year. Hot spots such as Australia, Italy, Germany, Singapore, Belgium, the Netherlands and the US are leading the charge when it comes to solarized breweries, and China is predicted to be ‘one to watch’ as the fastest growing market for beer consumption.
