Our Earth Month journey so far. Each day since April 1, we have presented to the world information about renewable fuels’ vital role in mitigating climate change along with suggestions for things individuals can do. If you missed them, don’t worry. You can find them filed under our Education category for Earth Day 2021, here.
Great thanks to all those on our international team who volunteered to research, write, edit and design the posts for our Earth Day 2021 Series project, especially
Anahita Bharadwaj who had the idea and took responsibility for Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter posts and
Nathália Fernandes Pimentel who designed and managed our Instagram posts.
by Joanne Ivancic (Advanced Biofuels USA) Isn’t the whole point, in a way, to just recycle the carbon that is already in the air and on the Earth? To leave fossil carbon buried in deep storage; to prevent or avoid extraction and combustion or use of fossilized carbon sources?
How can we do that?
Here’s an illustration of the carbon cycle. It shows how carbon is taken from the air to make plants via photosynthesis in the wild and in agriculture. It shows how we put carbon into the air via combustion of transportation and industry. What if instead of using fossil carbon from deep storage, we recycle carbon in those plants and from those smoke stacks? We won’t need to bring more from storage.

New Hampshire bill cuts gun regulations
Are you following the activities of the New Hampshire Legislature? If gun violence concerns you, you should know that there have been several bills this session to expand the Second Amendment right to bear arms. House Bill 307 especially, passed the House and is being considered by the state Senate.
HB 307 should give parents and other citizens pause. The bill, under the name of “the New Hampshire Second Amendment state preemption act,” would “declare all ordinances and regulations null and void which have been enacted by any jurisdictions other than state and federal jurisdictions, which regulate firearms; ammunition; ammunition components; knives; firearms components; firearms accessories; and firearms supplies. .” This means that any firearm regulation by a county, city, town, municipality, school district o
by Gaulthier Blangez (Advanced Biofuels USA) Let’s go back to the basics. The “Bio” term comes from ancient Greek and is translated as “Life.” Widely used in our day to day vocabulary, this term has found its place in our language by becoming a prefix.
Energy beet grown for advanced ethanol production experiments at University of Maryland Eastern Shore, a technology that can also be used to convert waste sugar beet pulp to building blocks of chemicals or fuels.
Biochemistry studies chemical reactions happening inside living organisms, biology studies these living organisms; by extension biofuels are fuels produced with natural and non-fossil resources. In addition, they are qualified as “advanced” when the so-called resources aren’t food crops.
by Nathália Fernandes Pimentel (Advanced Biofuels USA) Fossil fuels have revolutionized our modern society. Before the use of such products, humanity used basic forms of energy, such as biomass and wood. But through the Industrial Revolution, fossil energy has allowed us to experience progress in technology, economy and in our society as a whole.
However, the intense use of fossil fuels has also brought negative impacts, especially on our environment. When burned, fossil fuels produce carbon dioxide (CO²), as well as contribute to air pollution. These consequences have been scientifically proved to be linked to global climate change and the increase of Earth’s temperature.
