Hemmerstoffer s posted renders look a lot like last year s budget phone from Google, from the punch-hole camera cutout in the upper left corner of the display to the square camera array on the phone s back. Presumably, the Pixel 5a will be made out of plastic like its predecessors one of the ways Google has been able to keep costs down on this part of its phone lineup.
Based on
leaked Pixel 5a specs accompanying Hemmerstoffer s render, it sounds like the new phone will have a lot more in common with the Pixel 4a 5G than the Pixel 4a. The Pixel 5a is expected to feature a 6.2-inch OLED display with full HD resolution. That s the same size as the screen on the Pixel 4a 5G. At an expected 6.1 x 2.9 x 0.3 inches, the Pixel 5a would be the same size as the Pixel 4a 5G as well.

Actor Charles Grodin, whose comic characters were almost always hapless, and whose serious characters generally gave that trademark haplessness a sinister twist, died Tuesday of cancer at his home in Wilton, Conn. He was 86.
His death, from bone marrow cancer, was confirmed to NPR by his son, actor Nicholas Grodin.

District Attorney Andrew Womble has declined to file charges against Pasquotank County, N.C., sheriff s deputies in the fatal shooting of Andrew Brown Jr. last month in Elizabeth City. His decision followed an inquiry by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, which presented its findings to the prosecutor.
At a press conference Tuesday morning, Womble said Brown s shooting by three deputies was tragic but justified, because law enforcement officers reasonably believed they were in danger.
Brown, 42, was shot and killed in his car by deputies as they arrived to carry out warrants in drug-related charges in Elizabeth City on April 21. He was killed a day after a jury found former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin guilty of murder in George Floyd s killing.

Enough rhetoric, it s time to act: that s the gist of a new report from the International Energy Agency, which says the world must bring about a total transformation of its energy systems if it hopes to reach net-zero emissions by 2050 and minimize the worst effects of climate change.
The agency is calling for a string of bold actions and aggressive deadlines in the report, which is a roadmap to zero out carbon emissions, either by reducing them or removing them through technology such as carbon capture. We are in a critical year at the start of a critical decade for these efforts, the IEA s executive director, Fatih Birol, said as he introduced the report.
