As pioneers of American roots music age and pass away, it is perennially asked: who s going to fill their shoes? as the late George Jones mournfully sang in 1985. For old-time music fans, that question of who would carry on the tradition was answered when The Carolina Chocolate Drops emerged in 2005.
Straight out of North Carolina, the members of the talent-laden Grammy-winning group decided to go their separate ways in 2013 after releasing their fourth studio album,
Leaving Eden. After the group s split, all ears were on the classically-trained, multi-instrumentalist Rhiannon Giddens, who was free to fly in any and all musical directions.
The last elections were held in 2006 and the Palestinian parliament hasn't conducted real business in years. Many observers predict the Islamist party Hamas is poised to win if elections are held.
Dozens Crushed To Death, Scores Injured In Stampede At Israeli Religious Festival

JERUSALEM At least 45 people were killed and some 150 more injured in a crush at a religious festival of ultra-Orthodox Jews in northern Israel, where tens of thousands of faithful had convened in one of the country’s largest events since the pandemic began.
The chaos at Mount Meron began early Friday at the festival of Lag BaOmer, which features bonfires and dancing around the Galilee tomb of a 2nd century rabbi.
According to witnesses, at around 1 a.m. local time, in an area of the complex where the ultra-Orthodox Hasidic community of Toldos Aharon was holding its celebration, participants were pushing through a slippery staircase. Suddenly, a row of people fell to the floor, piling atop of one another.

The Biden administration is set to enact a travel ban on any non-U.S. citizens or permanent residents coming to the country from India as multiple coronavirus variants have driven India s COVID-19 outbreak to troubling new heights. The policy will take effect starting on Tuesday, the White House said.
India had already been under a Level 4 – Do Not Travel advisory from the State Department, which issued or updated scores of travel advisories related to the continued spread of the coronavirus last week. The new ban will take the precaution to a new level.
