April 2020 saw the launch of the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) 2025 Strategic Plan to align with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s aspiration for the country to transform into a Smart Nation.
With its new vision of a ‘Connected Smart Nation’ and the mission of ‘Enhancing Connectivity for Great Socio-Economic Opportunities, Innovation and High Quality of Life’, the plan is also in concert with the three goals of Brunei Vision 2035: ensuring high quality of life; boasting highly educated and skilled workforce; and having a sustainable and dynamic economy.

Apple, for example, is trying to turn Apple Maps into a full alternative to Google Maps, while at the same time preparing an incident reporting feature inspired by Waze. So in the long term, Apple is trying to compete against both Google Maps and Waze, though for now, its app remains limited to the iOS ecosystem.
Meanwhile, however, others are also building alternative products. TomTom has already launched its hazard warnings with push notification support and the Indian government is working with domestic partners to build a rival to Google Maps.

Plans to set up Nairobi City s new traffic control system are on course with its design already completed.
The Integrated Traffic Management Centre (TMC) will be set up at a cost of Ksh1.9 billion with the aim of enhancing traffic management in the city.
According to the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) the centre will be located on a 10-acre parcel of land in the City Cabanas area on Mombasa Road.
The system which is set to ease traffic jams was unveiled by President Uhuru Kenyatta in November 2020.
