On an index where the average community score was 63.3, Jacksonville scored 204.7.
The index uses a yearly rate of pedestrian deaths for every 100,000 people in the Jacksonville area, based on fatalities over 10 years, 2010 to 2019. That rate rose from the 2019 report, which was based on an earlier 10-year bundle of data, because the number of deaths increased faster than the population.
