BENGALURU: The exclusion of Covishield, AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine manufactured by Pune-based Serum Institute of India, from the European Union’s Covid ‘Green Pass’ has left hundreds of Europe-bound students and working professionals confused and helpless.
While AstraZeneca’s Vaxzervia is one of four vaccines recognised by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the same vaccine manufactured in India and distributed under the name Covishield has not been approved.
A majority of the more than 2,000 students and working professionals, who got themselves jabbed with Covishield at a special camp, are anxiously waiting and hoping that EMA will approve SII’s Covishield. Students who are planning to pursue their education abroad will have to travel soon since the academic year for many universities begins in August/September.
