BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, May 6 (Xinhua) Brunei reported no local COVID-19 infection cases on Thursday, marking one year without local COVID-19 transmission.
After the first COVID-19 case were reported on March 9, 2020, Brunei, with a population of about 450,000, has maintained strict border control and travel regulations to contain the spread of the virus from overseas travellers despite experiencing a sharp drop in international tourists.
The country has also imposed strict mass-gathering ban, carried out technology-based contact tracing and rigorous quarantine measures to keep locally-transmitted cases at bay.
The Brunei government kicked off the National Vaccination Program on April 3 this year, with 17,776 people having received COVID-19 vaccines by May 5.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, May5 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): The Ministry of Health (MoH) has denied viral claims of a fundraising to acquire a hearse for Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital in Tutong District.
According to the alleged fundraiser circulated widely online, the targetted amount is BND50,000 with a deadline of May 10,2021.
The appeal also included two bank account numbers for donors to leave their contributions.
“The message is false. The MoH has never issued any open appeal for donations, and has never given permission to the parties mentioned in the message to solicit for donations on behalf of the Ministry of Health, ” the MoH said in a statement.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, May 5 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Since the implementation of the National Covid-19 Vaccination Programme on April 3, the number of people being inoculated in Brunei Darussalam has reached 15,905.
The number of people receiving their second dose of vaccine has reached 862, while 15,043 have just received their first dose.
Brunei-Muara District has the highest number of vaccinated individuals (12,418), followed by Belait District (1,484), Tutong District (1,361) and Temburong District (642), according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).
The number who have completed their inoculation is 716 in Brunei-Muara District, 132 in Tutong District, 13 in Temburong District and one in Belait District.

According to Brunei s Ministry of Health, the latest case is a 52-year-old man who arrived in the country from Manila, the Philippines, on April 21, and showed no signs of infection. Investigation and contact tracing have confirmed no close contacts for this case as he was quarantined upon arrival in the country.
The patient is being treated and monitored at the National Isolation Center with other six active cases, who are all in a stable condition.
