Springwell grab-and-go hot lunches
The center is now offering hot “grab and go” lunches Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays in collaboration with Springwell. To reserve a hot lunch, residents must call the Senior Center at 617-730-2747 two business days in advance. There will be no admission to the Senior Center for any reason at the time of pickup. Those who are not feeling well and/or have a temperature of 100 degrees or higher should stay home and contact their physician. Face coverings (i.e., scarf, mask, bandana) are required when picking up the meal. Residents will be required to follow the directions provided by staff and volunteers at the time of arrival. Employees will ask residents for information on the phone so that they do not need to fill out forms at the time of pick up. For more information on the menu selections, call 617-730-2

Brookline’s town election got off to a cold and wet start Tuesday amid a heavy rainstorm, with early voting and mail-in ballots contributing to quiet polling places.
Through 7 p.m., the town had seen 6,937 votes cast so far in the May 4 Town Election, including early in-person votes and mail-in ballots tabulated at individual precincts, according to Jeff Nutting, a consultant in the Town Clerk’s office who has led Brookline elections during Town Clerk Pat Ward’s leave.
“In person voting today so far is extremely light,” Nutting wrote in an email. “I am not sure if the weather is affecting turnout.”

Brookline s 2021 Women of the Year have dedicated time and energy to championing social justice causes and uplifting members of their community. On Wednesday, it was their turn to be celebrated.
The Brookline Commission for Women chose awardees from a list of 25 nominees. Unlike in previous years, the Commission chose more than one winner, with Commission Chair Rebecca Stone citing the special circumstances of the past year.
“This year, the Commission decided we didn t want to try to choose just one person because women have been so much of the response to the extraordinary challenges of these times,” Stone said.
