FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Broward County Mayor Steve Geller is reminding residents not to let their guard down when it comes to stopping the spread of COVID-19.
“Even as our vaccine numbers are going up, so is the COVID positivity rate,” the mayor says. “So is the rate of hospitalization, so is the rate of intensive care, so is the hospital COVID count.”

Broward County Mayor Steve Geller defending North Perry Airport following Monday s deadly crash. There have been 14 accidents at North Perry over the last 5 years, Geller said. He adds, North Perry is a safe airport there is some occasional pilot error it is no more on average per takeoff or landing than any other airport in South Florida.
Geller says he s analyzed statistics from every South Florida airport, and North Perry s numbers are exactly average.
A 4-year-old boy died in Monday s crash when a small plane crashed into his mom s SUV in Pembroke Pines. His mother, Megan “Ki Ki” Bishop, remains in serious condition. The two people in the single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza died crashing just after takeoff from North Perry Airport.

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – An absolutely heart wrenching time for several South Florida families as they mourn the loss of their loved ones following a horrific tragedy that no one could have seen coming.
Federal investigators removed the last of the wreckage Tuesday from when a small plane crashed into a moving vehicle the day before in Pembroke Pines.
Three people were killed, one of whom was just a 4-year-old boy.
Broward County School Board members held a moment of silence for Taylor Bishop and his mother Megan, a teacher’s assistant at Hollywood Hills Elementary School.
