David A. Letner
A Somerset man initially accused of drug trafficking has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to heroin possession and bail jumping.
David Allen Letner, 35, was sentenced July 12 to two years for first-degree Possession of a Controlled Substance (first offense, heroin) to be served consecutively with a one-year sentence for first-degree Bail Jumping.
The charges stem from a March 6 traffic stop conducted by Pulaski County Deputy Sheriff Trent Massey on West Ky. 914. According to his arrest citation, a registration check of Letner s 2008 Hyundai Tiburon indicated that Letner s license was suspended. Upon making contact with him, Dep. Massey reported Letner had glassy, bloodshot eyes and was sweating profusely.
Tyler B. Stewart
A local man was sentenced to five years in prison earlier this month after having his pretrial diversion revoked due to new indictments.
Tyler Bryant Stewart, 20, of Somerset, was granted a five-year pretrial diversion in July 2019 as part of a plea agreement involving two counts of third-degree Burglary.
Had Stewart been able to complete the diversion without further legal trouble, the case would have been cleared from his record. However last February, the Pulaski County Grand Jury returned no fewer than five new indictments against him.
The first charged Stewart with Unlawful Transaction with a Minor under 16, Use of a Minor under 16 in a Sex Performance, Promoting Sex Performance by Minor under 16, Prohibited Use of an Electronic Communication System to Procure Minor for Sex Offense, Possess/View Matter Portray Sexual Performance by Minor, Distribute Obscene Material to Minors (1st offense), Sexual Misconduct and second-degree Sexual Abuse.
Eugene C. Moore
A Somerset man was recently sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to Impersonating a Peace Officer.
Eugene Christian Moore, 35, of Somerset, was arrested April 23 just after 11 a.m. by Somerset Police Officer Derrick Glover on charges of Impersonating a Peace Officer and Attempted Theft By Unlawful Taking Auto between $500 and $10,000.
According to the arrest citation, Ofc. Glover responded to a call from Wellsprings in regard to a man who entered the business flashing a badge and stating he was with the FBI and needed to get a vehicle parked behind the building. Moore initially denied being at Wellsprings when the officer caught up with him on Correll Street but after another officer confirmed the report with the initial caller, Moore was Mirandized and told officers that he had presented a gold coin and told workers he was with the FBI and needed to take the BMW to Lexington.
