Pulaski County Fiscal Court heard from Emergency Management/911 Director Aaron Ross during Tuesday s regular meeting.
A brief meeting of Pulaski County Fiscal Court was capped by an executive session to discuss a potential legal issue with one of the county s properties.
At nearly 20 minutes, the closed discussion took up the majority of Tuesday s fiscal court meeting. While no action was taken after the court reconvened openly, Judge-Executive Steve Kelley stated after the meeting that discussion centered on inaccurate records from the 1990s that we need to clean up.
Most of the open regular session was devoted to last week s winter weather.

Pulaski County Detention Center Sgt. Rodney Dick and Nursing Director Casey Coffey updated Fiscal Court Tuesday on jail operations since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
While the COVID-19 pandemic has been particularly hard on county jails across Kentucky, the Pulaski County Detention Center accomplished something nearly unheard of.
During Tuesday s meeting of Pulaski County Fiscal Court, PCDC Sergeant Rodney Dick presented county officials with a $44,255 check representing excess fees for 2020.
With the pandemic keeping inmates from being transferred, most local jails saw a dramatic drop in inmate population particularly state inmates that produce lodging revenues.
Dick said that Jailer Anthony McCollum and his command staff restructured as a result. We re doing more with less, he said.

Pulaski County Judge-Executive Steve Kelley discusses an insurance payment from a fire truck owned by the county but used by Somerset Fire Department through an interlocal agreement.
Debate over who should ultimately benefit from an insurance payout seems to foreshadow future negotiations between Somerset and Pulaski County over fire protection.
Last month Somerset City Council voted to replace a fire truck which had been totaled in an accident.
As it turned out, the wrecked truck had been purchased through an interlocal agreement with Pulaski County Fiscal Court which allows for fire coverage outside city limits.
As Tuesday s fiscal court meeting wound down, Pulaski County Judge-Executive Steve Kelley asked magistrates to consider turning over the $89,000 insurance payment they had received to the city so that it could be applied toward the purchase of a new truck that will be owned and insured by the city.

County officials are seeking a path for reimbursement after covering a bond payment and health insurance for the Lake Cumberland Regional Airport.
Budget woes continue for the Lake Cumberland Regional Airport, judging by discussion during Tuesday s meeting of Pulaski County Fiscal Court.
Judge-Executive Steve Kelley presented a bond payment bill which the airport had turned in for approval prior to what would have been the November 24 meeting, which was cancelled after Governor Andy Beshear announced the latest COVID-19 restrictions.
While Judge Kelley noted that the county s name is attached to the bond making Fiscal Court ultimately responsible airport officials have also failed to meet their obligation with the county regarding health insurance for its employees. We ve got to decide how to move forward with paying this bond payment but also holding them accountable for the agreement that they have made with us regarding their health insurance.
