FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – One person is in custody in connection with the shooting death of a man in Florence County on Wednesday, authorities said.
According to information from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, 24-year-old Raeshawn Shaquille Lawson, of Florence, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter. He is being held at the Florence County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
Investigators said that Lawson, while a passenger in a vehicle in the 400 block of West Palmetto Street, pointed a gun in the direction of the victim when the weapon discharged unintentionally.

FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – A man has been arrested in connection with an assault that turned deadly over the weekend in Florence County.
According to information from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the 1300 block of Olanta Highway in Effingham at 11:25 a.m. Saturday for a reported assault.
The victim was taken to an area hospital where he later died.
Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken identified the victim as 56-year-old Bobby Carl Gainey, of Cheraw. The man was attacked with a hammer, according to the coroner’s office.

FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – A Florence woman was charged after allegedly assaulting two deputies following a traffic crash.
According to information from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, 31-year-old Kellie Nicole Hopkins was arrested Dec. 11 and charged with assault on a police officer, third-degree assault and battery, and public disorderly conduct.
Online records from the Florence County Detention Center state Hopkins was released from jail the same day on a $10,000 surety bond.
