Hospitals and elder care facilities in Sarasota and Manatee counties eagerly are anticipating access to coronavirus vaccine doses, which could arrive in the region over the next week.
The first doses of Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine arrived in Florida on Monday, generating excitement across the state. The initial doses went to five hospitals in Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando, Miami and Hollywood.
A spokesman for the Florida Department of Health’s Sarasota County office said Tuesday that Pfizer vaccine doses are expected in the region within a week.
“We do anticipate receiving the Pfizer vaccine at area hospitals in the next week as distribution continues,” Steve Huard in the DOH Sarasota office said.
