The State of Florida Issues Tropical Storm Elsa Updates
Governor Ron DeSantis is in constant communication with Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) Director Kevin Guthrie as the State of Florida continues to monitor and respond to the threat of Tropical Storm Elsa.
Governor DeSantis issued Executive Order 21-151, expanding the State of Emergency for Tropical Storm Elsa. The State of Emergency now includes the following counties: Alachua, Charlotte, Citrus, Collier, Columbia, Dixie, Franklin, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Hernando, Hillsborough, Jefferson, Lafayette, Lake, Lee, Levy, Manatee, Marion, Monroe, Pasco, Pinellas, Sarasota, Sumter, Suwanee, Taylor and Wakulla counties. DeSoto, Hardee and Miami-Dade counties are no longer under a State of Emergency due to the changed projected path of Tropical Storm Elsa.

Governor DeSantis Provides Update on State Response Efforts for Surfside Building Collapse
Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced that, after discussion with local officials in Surfside and structural engineers, the remainder of Champlain Building South will be demolished this weekend prior to potential impacts from Tropical Storm Elsa to ensure the safety of residents and first responders. Demolition activities will be scheduled within 36 hours. First responders will resume search and rescue efforts as quickly as possible after the demolition. The state will also cover all costs associated with the demolition of the building.
This morning, Governor Ron DeSantis was joined by Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nuñez, Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) Director Kevin Guthrie and Surfside Mayor Charles Burkett for a press briefing to provide updates on the Surfside Building Collapse response.
