According to Amnesty International, 483 people, excluding China, were executed last year - including 16 women.
China remained the world s leading executioner in 2020 – but the true number of executions is unknown as the figures are classified as a state secret, Amnesty said.
Excluding China, 88 percent of all recorded executions, including beheading, electrocution, hanging, lethal injection and shooting, took place in just four countries - Iran, Egypt, Iraq and Saudi Arabia.
Egypt more than tripled its reported executions - from at least 32 to at least 107.
Florida prison inmate arrested for leaving work site, accomplice arrested

Collier County deputies have arrested a state prison inmate who slipped away from a work detail site and the woman that helped him.
Westley Devon Shaw, 36, faces charges of escaping from prison and being a fugitive from justice. Latasha Michelle Stillman, of Lehigh Acres, is accused of helping him and faces charges of harboring an escaped prisoner, according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation began after the CCSO received information that inmates from the Florida Department of Corrections were conducting off-site work in an area of Oil Well Road and SR-29 near the former Hendy Correctional facility.

A state prisoner who slipped away from a work detail in Collier County and his accomplice were arrested during a traffic stop Tuesday, according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

Telemarketers are jamming Washington phones with robocalls

The number of robocalls coming into Washington state reached the 2 million mark each day in March of this year, according to the robocall tracking service YouMail.
After a lull during the start of the pandemic, telemarketers are now ringing phones in increasing numbers and frustrated consumers are calling on the government to do something to put a stop to it.
“They’re stupid. They’re trying to take advantage of seniors,” said 79-year-old Nancy Weathers of White Center of the telemarketers that call her phone two or three times day.
Three arrested in Orange County in connection to New Port Richey homicide
A group came from Central Florida to Pasco County with intentions to rob.

Three Orange County residents face homicide charges related to the death of a 52-year-old man in New Port Richey, according to the Pasco Sheriffâs Office.
Christopher Neff, 38, Krystal Kerri Koren, 37, brother and sister, and Kevin Scott Barnes Jr., 31, were arrested on charges of murder for the death of Matthew Parrish, who was found shot at a New Port Richey Sunoco on April 25. All three remain in jail in Orange County while they await extradition to Pasco County, officials said.
