Alachua County COVID-19 hospitalizations on the rise

Local hospitalizations with a primary diagnosis of COVID-19 are up this week compared with last, the most recent state data show.   Tuesday afternoon, 52 patients at Alachua County hospitals had a primary diagnosis of COVID-19 an increase since last week, according to data from Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration. Hospitals had about 16% available capacity, and overall bed availability has been stable for the past month.  The overall number of new cases has remained relatively low the past few weeks. Alachua County on Tuesday reported 27 new coronavirus cases, for a total of 24,744. The two-week positivity rate for new cases is 3.5%, similar to last week.

Hospitals had about 18% available capacity, and overall bed availability has remained stable for the past month.   Statewide, there were 3,075 new cases Monday for a total of 2,245,853. 

COVID-19 update: Alachua County adds 16 cases Monday

The county s total virus fatalities remain at 275.  Monday afternoon, 45 patients at Alachua County hospitals had a primary diagnosis of COVID-19 a decrease since last week, according to data from Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration. Hospitals had about 18% available capacity, and overall bed availability has remained stable for the past month.   Statewide, there were 3,075 new cases Monday for a total of 2,245,853.  Alachua County public schools have reported 311 staff and 706 student cases since Aug. 17, 2020. There are 15 active cases, and another 122 students or staff are quarantined for possible virus exposure.  The University of Florida s coronavirus testing and case dashboard includes positive case totals dating back to March 2020. Spring semester classes have ended, and testing data is not available for Saturday.

Alachua County added no new deaths and 42 new COVID-19 virus cases to its totals in Saturday s state health department report. The county s fatalities from the virus remained at 275, and the total number of casesnow stands at 24,678. Forty-three patients at Alachua County hospitals had a primary diagnosis of COVID-19 down from 45 the previous day, according to data from Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration. Hospitals had about 18.3% available capacity. Statewide, Florida reported 5,425 new cases for a total of 2,238,937. The University of Florida s coronavirus testing and case dashboard includes positive case totals dating back to March 2020. Five students or staff tested positive Friday, and there were 304 new UF-affiliated cases reported in April. Spring semester commencement ceremonies, as well as make-up in-person celebrations for 2020 graduates, began this week and run through May 9.

Alachua County adds 23 COVID-19 cases Sunday Alachua County on Sunday reported 23 new coronavirus cases, for a total of 24,701. The two-week positivity rate for new cases is 3.5%, an increase since last week.  The county s total virus fatalities remain at 275, 80 of whom were affiliated with long-term care. The residents include at least 111 men and 107 women.  Sunday afternoon, 40 patients at Alachua County hospitals had a primary diagnosis of COVID-19 a decrease since last week, according to data from Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration. Hospitals had about 19.5% available capacity, and overall bed availability has remained stable for the past month.   Statewide, Florida reported 3,841 new cases Sunday for a total of 2,242,778.
