SURFSIDE, Fla. (AP) Search crews going through the ruins of a Florida condo tower pulled six more bodies from the rubble Wednesday, bringing the number of confirmed dead to 18. It was the highest one-day toll since the building collapsed almost a week ago into a heap of broken concrete.

It s Day 6 of a painstaking effort to find survivors after the collapse of a beachfront Florida condominium. Thunderstorms rolled through Surfside on Tuesday, and debris fell overnight from the shattered edge of the remaining building.

Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said Wednesday evening that rescuers recovered the bodies of two additional victims from the rubble of a collapsed condo building in Surfside, Florida.
