Florida Department of Health Provides Week 21 Updates on Florida’s Vaccination Efforts Under Governor DeSantis’ Leadership
~Over 9 million Floridians have been vaccinated~
The Florida Department of Health issued an update on the progress of the state s vaccination efforts, as well as its weekly COVID-19 update. The State of Florida is in its twenty-first week of vaccine distribution and is continuing to increase vaccine access statewide.
As of today, at 7 a.m., 9,149,171 individuals have been vaccinated for COVID-19 in Florida; 3,724,743 million are seniors ages 65 and older.
The one-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine is now available at an additional 11 state-supported vaccination sites in Broward, Hillsborough, Duval, Miami-Dade, Osceola and Palm Beach counties. A total of 14 state-supported vaccination sites statewide now offer the Johnson and Johnson vaccine for all individuals ages 18 and older. Understanding the numbers
Reported COVID-19 cases in Florida surged at the beginning of 2021, with most of January reporting more than 10,000 cases a day. And, the state didn t see percent positivity below 5 percent the entire month, with many daily reports in the double digits.
Since Feb. 4, however, daily reported COVID-19 cases in Florida have remained under 10,000.
The
highest single-day case number Florida has reported so far is 19,816 for Jan. 6. The report released on Jan. 2 of 31,518 newly-reported cases is higher, but that report combined updates for Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.

The Monroe County government is participating in a federal grant program to help local homeowners whose homes are at risk of flooding, have flooded in the past or the owner filed a flood insurance claim with the National Flood Insurance Program and is interested in grant funding to elevate, demolish and reconstruct a home, or sell the home.
Monroe County is participating in the national Flood Mitigation Assistance grant program to help with the costs to mitigate flooding. The grant opportunity is anticipated to open in September. While the 2021 requirements have not been published yet, Monroe County wants to help residents prepare early, according to county spokeswoman Kristen Livengood.
