The Finance Board acted after about 45 minutes of discussion and debate over the school board’s proposed $33.1 million budget. That proposal would have added $1.256 million to the current school budget, an increase of 3.95 percent. However, as the clock neared 11:15 p.m., the Finance Board voted 3-2 to reduce the proposal by $312,000 to $32.8 million, an increase of 2.97 percent.
