KUALA LUMPUR: The unemployment rate in Malaysia for April 2021 has dropped to 4.6 percent which was the lowest rate since October 2020, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) reported today on Statistics of Labour Force, Malaysia, April 2021.
Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said the number of unemployed persons was reduced by 0.1 percentage point or 10,500 persons month-on-month to register 742,700 persons compared to 753,200 recorded in March.
“Malaysia’s labour force continued to be on a recovery path in April 2021 as Recovery Movement Control Order (MCO) in most states and Conditional MCO gave more opportunities for businesses to continue their activities in full capacity while adhering to strict standard operating procedures.

PETALING JAYA: Youths looking for jobs have been hard hit by the Covid-19 pandemic and Perikatan Nasional Youth wants to help by making it easier to find employment.
Perikatan Youth chief Khairul Nizam Khirudin said Perikatan Youth had launched the Akar Umbi Pemacu Negara (AkuPN) website to help these youths in their job-hunting journey.
According to him, through the website, users could search for job opportunities under the Cari Kerja segment, while the Skil segment offered opportunities to upskill themselves. Businesses are also suffering in the pandemic and AkuPN offers entrepreneurs and small business owners to seek funding under the Sapot segment.

KUALA LUMPUR: The uneven Malaysia’s labour force situation in 2020 was profoundly caused by the health crisis and economic consequences, leading the unemployment rate to reach 4.5 per cent compared to 3.3 per cent in 2019, said the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM).
Chief statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said throughout 2020, the global labour market was in uncertainty, resulting in job losses and reduction in working hours, as well as source of income, following the Covid-19 pandemic and strict containment measures adopted by many countries.
“During the health crisis, the monthly unemployment rate was hovering between 3.9 per cent and 5.3 per cent an addition of more than 200,000 of unemployed persons.
