JAKARTA, May 19 Indonesia’s Mount Sinabung in North Sumatra province erupted on Wednesday, sending thick gray volcanic ashes up to 3,500 meters into the sky, said the country’s Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Centre.
The eruption occurred at 4.48am local time, Xinhua news agency quoted Muhammad Asrori, an official at the centre.
The wind brought the volcanic ashes to the east and the south.
The centre has urged people not to move to the villages that have been relocated and the areas within a radius of 3km from the peak. It also asked people to wear masks while leaving their homes and keep away from the dangerous volcanic ashes.

JAKARTA, May 10 (Xinhua) Mount Sinabung in Indonesia s North Sumatra province erupted at 7:47 a.m. local time Monday, belching thick gray ashes 2,500 meters from its peak to the south and the west, according to the Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Center. This eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 90 mm and a duration of 246 seconds, said the center s officer Armen Putra on Monday.
At 3:42 a.m. local time, Sinabung also erupted, spewing thick ashes 1,000 meters to the west for 150 seconds.
The center recommended that people should not move to the villages that have been relocated and areas within a radius of 3 km from the peak.

Jakarta, May 7 : Mount Sinabung in Indonesia s North Sumatra province has erupted again, spewing a wthick ash column up 2,000 metres above its peak, the country s Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Centre (PVMBG) said.
PVMBG officer Moh Nurul Asrori said the seismograph recorded the eruption at 11.19 a.m., on Thursday morning, which lasted for 319 seconds, reports Xinhua news agency.
The centre recommended that people should not move in the danger zone within a 3-km radius of the peak.
It also urged people to avoid rivers that originate in the mountain and to wear masks when they have to leave their homes to keep away from the contaminated air.
