DALLAS (AP) Jill Biden played offense Tuesday in the fight against COVID-19, teaming up with an NFL Hall of Fame running back to encourage Texans to get vaccinated against the disease.
“Today, we are finally getting back the things that we lost. But as far as we’ve come, we’re not done yet,” the first lady said in brief remarks after she toured a pop-up vaccination clinic at Emmett J. Conrad High School.
In Texas: More than 2.9 million cases and more than 52,200 deaths have been reported.
Cases In North Texas: Tarrant County: 263,335; Dallas County: 262,710; Denton County: 76,975; Collin County: 75,928. There have been at least 9,148 reported deaths in the region s four largest counties.

Texas Electricity Shut-off Moratorium Ends Today
Private electricity companies can turn people s electricity off for past-due bills beginning today. State regulators lifted a moratorium on disconnections after months of pressure from private industry.
About 250,000 households are behind on bills and that s just in San Antonio and Austin, where the city-owned utilities have yet to announce when local shut-offs will resume. The average past-due amount is about $600.

New loan will finance next phase of Dallas’ RedBird redevelopment Steve Brown, The Dallas Morning News
Two local banks have teamed up to provide construction financing for the next phase of redevelopment of the former RedBird Mall property in Southwest Dallas.
Texas Security Bank and Texas Brand Bank are making $13.5 million in construction loans for the build-out of the central, office portion of the project at Interstate 20 and U.S. Highway 67.
The almost $200 million redevelopment of the former shopping mall site includes new retail and apartments, a hotel and office space. Texas Security Bank and Texas Brand Bank supplied the construction funding to create offices a combination of new construction and recycling existing space.
