The Boone County Sheriff s Department confirmed one person was shot in the area of Coopers Landing late Friday night.
According to Brian Leer, a spokesperson for the sheriff s department, Boone County Deputies were dispatched to investigate a report of a shooting around 11 p.m.
The Boone County Joint Communications got information about someone walking into a hospital who said he was shot accidentally while at Cooper s Landing.
The victim reported he and a friend were shooting a gun when the friend accidentally shot him.
A witness to the shooting told officials the victim was shot while with a group of people, but the witness could not say which person shot the gun.

ORIGINAL: Traffic is currently backed up due to multiple vehicle crashes on westbound Interstate 70 in Columbia, near mile marker 131.
Traffic is backed up near the St. Charles Road/Lake of the Woods Road exits. According to the KOMU 8 Traffic map, vehicles are traveling at about 20 mph.Â
One westbound lane is currently closed. Boone County Joint Commissions sent an alert about the crashes around 12:37 p.m.Â

Police arrest Columbia woman for assault and resisting arrest

A Columbia woman is being held in the Boone County Jail Saturday after being arrested for assault.
Columbia Police arrested 22-year-old Jerika D. Owens, of Columbia for assault and resisting arrest Friday.
CPD was dispatched around 6:30 p.m. to the 300 block of Brewer Drive for a report of a disturbance.
According to a press release, Boone County Joint Communications said a female suspect with a gun tried to hit two people with the weapon.
When officers arrived on scene, they found evidence of an assault but the suspect had left the scene prior to officers’ arrival.
