The qualification period was earlier to end on April 25. “The Olympic Qualifying period for the Race to Tokyo will now close on 15 June 2021, with the last tournament counting for qualification being the Singapore Open 2021,” the BWF said in a statement.

The others shown the exit by the BAM Coaching and Training (C&T) Committee are mixed doubles shuttlers Goh Soon Huat, Shevon Lai and Lai Pei Jing as well as former Commonwealth Games women’s doubles gold medallist Vivian Hoo.

BAM said that the decision was taken following meticulous and detailed assessment after the Asian legs of the BWF World Tour campaign in Bangkok in January. A thorough performance review of our national players was conducted. The entirety of BAM gives sincere thanks to these players for their commitment, dedication and immense contribution to the country over the years, it said in a statement on Sunday (Feb 7).
