Valley Players Theater set for long-awaited return of 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland'

Advertisement   Originally slated for April 2, 2020, the cast had already been in rehearsal for six weeks when COVID-19 forced them to shut down. It was to be the fifth of six shows as part of the theater’s 40th anniversary season, where they brought back past favorites such as “Harvey,” “On Golden Pond,” “Oliver,” and “Out of Sight, Out of Murder.”  Since then, the set – designed and painted by Sparky and Peggy Potter – has remained unchanged, waiting for audiences to fill the seats once more. With restrictions now lifted, that time has finally come. The cast and crew have been in rehearsal since May 23, awaiting the show’s opening on July 9.

UPDATED: Firefighters extinguish blaze at Fremont house

They looked toward the deck of their Fremont home. That’s when they saw the fire. “It all happened so quickly, but what I remember is that the fire was up by the window,” he said. The Potters would escape the blaze uninjured. But fire, smoke and other damage would destroy contents of the Fremont couple’s home – including decorations for their daughter’s wedding planned for May 29. A firefighter is shown at 2130 E. Military Ave., in Fremont where members of the Fremont Fire Department extinguished a blaze on Saturday afternoon and remained on scene thereafter. TAMMY REAL-MCKEIGHAN; Fremont Tribune
