As several Trinamool Congress leaders joined the BJP in recently, another prominent party MLA has hit out against some of her colleagues and described them as termites . In an interview to NDTV, Baishali Dalmiya said she is not considering joining the BJP but will stay within the party and fight elements that are working against the state and the interests of the party.
The Bally MLA also said that this is the same reason that another former cricketer Lakshmi Ratan Shukla also quit the party. Ms Dalmiya, 52, was seen with Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee when she visited former India captain and BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly who is recovering at Woodlands Hospital.

KOLKATA: Senior CPI(M) leader Ashok Bhattacharya s statement that BCCI president and former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly, who suffered a heart attack and is now hospitalised, was under pressure to join politics created a storm on Sunday.
Speculations were rife that the former batting great will join the BJP ahead of the state assembly elections due in April-May this year.

Ganguly was rushed to the hospital after he had complained of chest pain while working out in the gym on Saturday morning. Following this, doctors conducted angioplasty on him.
Dr Aftab Khan of Woodlands Hospital told reporters, “Sourav Ganguly has undergone angioplasty. He is stable now. He will be monitored for 24 hours. He is completely conscious. There are two blockages in his heart for which he will be treated. As of now he is stable, we will have a meeting on Monday and then we will decide what needs to be done further, priority is to let him settle down after heart attack. He is risk-free and he is talking as well.”
