Justice Arindam Sinha, a sitting judge of the Calcutta High Court, has written to other judges including acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal expressing his displeasure at the handling of the Narada bribery case involving Trinamool Congress leaders, reported
Bar and Bench.
“Our conduct is unbecoming of the majesty the High Court commands,” he said in the letter dated May 24. “We have been reduced to a mockery.”
Among other matters, Sinha raised objection to the manner in which a transfer plea filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the case was listed before a division bench of the Calcutta High Court as a writ petition. The investigating agency had filed the plea seeking to transfer the case outside of West Bengal.

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today skipped a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to assess the impact of Cyclone Yaas, choosing instead a quick 15-minute interaction with him at an airbase where his flight landed. She was to attend a cyclone damage review with PM Modi but left after handing him a report.

The storm is the second cyclone to devastate India this month, as the country grapples with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cyclone Yaas weakened into a deep depression early on Thursday, the India Metereological Department (IMD) reported, after the storm killed several people as it rampaged across eastern India the day prior.
The storm is expected to continue losing intensity further in the coming hours, as it moves northwest. Eastern India will see heavy rainfall during the coming days due to the remnants of the system.

To review the impact of cyclone Yaas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Odisha and West Bengal on Friday.
As per reports, the PM will first land in Bhubaneswar where he will hold a review meeting. He will then proceed for an aerial survey of the affected areas of Odisha s Balasore, and Bhadrak, and West Bengal s East Medinipur.
The Prime Minister has also planned to hold a review meeting in West Bengal.
