West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee described demonetisation as DeMoDisaster and turned her Twitter display picture black, on the first anniversary of the event on Wednesday. Banerjee had on Monday announced her decision to change the display picture on her Twitter account to black on the first anniversary of demonetisation.

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday announced more measures to contain the spread of coronavirus cases in the state.
Under the new restrictions, local trains will be suspended from Thursday, and from Friday onwards those entering the state will have to show a negative Covid test report. Airport authorities were asked to set up quarantine facilities to take in passengers.
“There won t be a total lockdown. Emergency and essential services will be outside the purview of restrictions,” the chief minister was quoted as saying by ndtv.com.
Indian National Award-winning actress and avid social media user Kangana Ranaut’s Twitter account was suspended on May 4 following her comments against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Earlier today, Ranaut who is a staunch supporter of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted a series of tweets criticising Banerjee for the violence that took place in her state following the Assembly Election results on May 2. In her tweets, Ranaut demanded President’s rule in West Bengal after Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) won the recent assembly elections in the state. She also tweeted that no violence was reported in other Indian states such as Assam where BJP won.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday slammed the Narendra Modi government by terming the Goods and Services Tax âGreat Selfish Tax to harass people and finish the economyâ.
She said demonetisation was a disaster and urged social media users to change their profile pictures to a black square on November 8 to protest against the note ban.
Back in January, Kangana Ranaut bashed Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey after claiming that her account had briefly been restricted. At the time, many netizens called on Dorsey.
