Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday alleged that the BJP has contributed to the recent rise in Covid-19 cases in the state by bringing outsiders in large numbers for campaigning during the ongoing assembly elections.
Addressing a poll rally in Jalpaiguri, Mamata also accused the BJP-led government at the Centre of not responding to the state s plea to vaccinate a majority of people, which could have helped contain the spread of the disease. They (BJP leaders) have brought outsiders for campaigning and contributed to the rise in Covid cases. We had managed to get hold of the Covid situation, they made it complicated, she said at the public meeting.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today blamed the BJP for the resurgence of COVID-19 in parts of the state and said had the government vaccinated everyone in time, there wouldn t have been this second outbreak of the pandemic.
Speaking at an election campaign rally at Jalpaiguri in north Bengal today, she attacked the BJP, without naming the party, for importing the virus into Bengal through the hundreds of outsiders it was bringing into the state for election campaign.
The Trinamool candidate for whom she was campaigning at the rally, Dr Pradip Barma, was absent from the stage. He has tested positive for Covid and is in hospital with mild symptoms.

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who on Tuesday sat on a dharna to protest the 24-hour ban imposed by the Election Commission, took to canvas and made colourful paintings.
Mamata, who arrived at the Mayo road venue in the morning and began her sit-in next to a Mahatma Gandhi statue, turned to paints and canvases and produced at least two paintings while sitting on her wheelchair.
