BEZA, JICA ink deal for preparatory survey of Ocean Front EZ in BSMSN

(BEZA) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) today signed an
agreement for “Preparatory Survey on Ocean Front Economic Zone Development in
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar (BSMSN)” at a hotel in the city.
On the occasion, BEZA and Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters
Association (BGMEA) also inked land lease agreement for setting up a
specialized garments park with 41 business entities.
Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary Dr Ahmed Kaikaus attended the

Japan and Bangladesh, who signed the comprehensive partnership agreement in 2014, have initiated discussion ways to elevate their relations to a strategic level.
Diplomatic sources said Dhaka and Tokyo on Thursday discussed give a big boost to the existing ties as the two countries are moving expeditiously to script a golden chapter in their relations in 2022.
Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen, who had a lengthy discussion with his Japanese counterpart Hiroshi Suzuki on Thursday, told reporters that they discussed how they can elevate the comprehensive partnership to strategic level.

Japan will have a stronger cooperation with Bangladesh, especially for enhancing regional stability and connectivity in the region, as the development of Bangladesh contributes to the stability of Indo-Pacific region, says a senior official at the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Bangladesh is achieving a higher rate of economic growth. We’ll further promote comprehensive partnership with Bangladesh,” Senior Regional Coordinator at Southwest Asia Division of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) Hitomi Sato told UNB in an interview.
Bangladesh and Japan are currently focusing more on infrastructure development and business partnership under “BIG-B” initiative.
Bangladesh now a perfect destination for investment
Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ito Naoki said on Thursday that Bangladesh will keep growing beyond Covid-19 and its geographical and strategic location will play more important role in integrating the market and supply chain in Asia and beyond.
The strategic location is very important to attract foreign investment and Japanese investors are now looking for massive investment in newer areas in Bangladesh, he told diplomatic correspondents at DCAB Talk at the Jatiya Press Club in the capital.
“Bangladesh is now perfect destination for investment,” the Japanese envoy said, lauding the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for creating an atmosphere conducive to investment.
