Govt proposes syllabus for madrasas in Karnataka News Network February 13, 2021 Mangaluru, Feb 13: The Karnataka government plans to introduce a syllabus for students studying in Madrasas across the state, Minister for Textiles and Minorities Welfare Srimantha Balasaheba Patil said. Speaking to newsmen here, he said as per this plan, students will receive a certificate equivalent to SSLC which will help them to enrol in PUC or other courses. Children in Madrasas had been deprived of formal education. To implement a syllabus for students of Madrasas, consultations were held with members of Muslim community leaders and education experts. In addition to religious education, Madrasa students will also be taught English, Mathematics and other subjects, he added.

VK Sasikala, expelled AIADMK leader and a close aide of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, was today discharged from hospital in Bengaluru where she was admitted a few days ago with fever and after experiencing breathlessness. She had later tested positive for Covid-19. Earlier this week, the 66-year-old was formally released after spending four years in a Bengaluru jail in connection with a corruption case. Jail officials wearing COVID-19 safety gear completed the formalities at the hospital on Wednesday.
