COVID-19: New Cases Confirmed In Westport School District

New COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the Westport Public School District, officials announced. Schools Superintendent Thomas Scarice announced on Monday night, Dec. 14 that two new cases in the district, one each at Bedford Middle School and Coleytown Elementary School. During the pandemic, Westport has been hit particularly hard, with cases quickly spreading, though the district has been able to keep buildings open in many cases. “Both cases involved individuals already quarantining based on exposures outside of school,” Scarice said. “In our efforts to remain transparent with reports of positive COVID-19 cases associated with our schools, we will continue to provide these updates as information is confirmed.”

Meal pickup is available at Oolitic Middle School, Bedford Middle School, and BNL High School today and Thursday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Meals will be available in the bus pickup line at each school. One case is at Coleytown Elementary School and the other is at Bedford Middle School, Superintendent Thomas Scarice announced in a letter to families and staff. “Both cases involved individuals already quarantining based on exposures outside of school,” he wrote. Scarice also reminded families to report positive cases of students to the district’s reporting hotline and email, regardless of whether the students are in remote or hybrid learning models.

Oolitic, Bedford Middle Schools and BNL Switch to Virtual Learning – WBIW

 December 14, 2020 (UNDATED) – Due to a recent increase in Covid-19 positive and quarantine cases at North Lawrence Community Schools – Bedford Middle School, Oolitic Middle School, and Bedford North Lawrence High School will move to virtual learning on Tuesday, December 15 through Friday, December 18. At this time, all extra-curricular activities will be suspended through Friday, December 18th. Elementary schools will continue with in-person learning through Friday, December 18th. Superintendent Dr. Ty Mungle says, if middle or high school students are in need of academic assistance or WiFi to complete virtual learning they may attend school on Tuesday, December 15th through Friday, December 18th. Transportation and food service will be provided.
