Sunday, April 25, 2021 - 5:37 pm AKWESASNE – Betty Joyce (LaFrance) Sunday “Karenhà:’es”, 85, a longtime resident of River Road, Snye, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, April 23, 2021. Friends may call Tuesday 12 - 8:00 PM at Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jerome Pastores, officiating.  Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Akwesasne. Please note that visitation will be occupancy controlled with those attending required to observe social distancing and wear face coverings.  If occupancy limitations are reached, those attending may have to wait outside until occupancy inside has been reduced.  Funeral services will be held outside with social distancing and face covering guidelines observed.  

Dale Holyoak, May 12, 1929—Jan 19, 2021

On Jan. 19, 2021, Papa Angel got his wings. Dale Henry Holyoak was born on May 12, 1929, to Jesse Gilbert Holyoak and Mattie Alberta Blackmore Holyoak in Moab. He was one of four children. Dale shared his childhood with Gilbert and Betty Joyce; Floyd Don passed away shortly before Dale was born. Dale was a true cowboy in every sense of the word. He started helping herd cows for family and neighbors at just 5 years old. He worked for Swanny Kerby as a young teenager and went on the rodeo circuit competing as both a bareback and saddleback rider. Dale was the first man from Grand County to be drafted into the Korean Conflict and honorably served his nation for two years.

Proctor, Alpha Beta ESA From left, Alpha Beta members Florence Cerantonio and Rebecca Burchard assisted the Tony O Rear Bowl for Life event staff with team registrations The Alpha Beta chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha enjoyed an engaging year in spite of limitations imposed by COVID-19. Just prior to the pandemic, Alpha Beta President Angela VanAllman and chapter members made plans for another exciting and fulfilling year that included supporting philanthropic efforts, ways and means projects, educational programs, socials, and more. The Tony O’Rear Bowl for Life Tournament to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital marked its 20th anniversary in February 2020. Tony, the son of former Alpha Beta member Barbara Breedwell, lost his fight against cancer at age 12. Chapter members support this annual event by soliciting door prizes, registering teams, and preparing
