Pettis and Johnson Counties Release Info on COVID-19 Vaccinations
The State of Missouri, Pettis County Health Center, and Johnson County Community Health Services have all released some information on distribution of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine that both counties have received.
In the Pettis County COVID-19 Task Force Briefing, Pettis County Health Center takes a cautiously optimistic tone that the vaccine is an important step toward ending the pandemic and the changes that the pandemic has caused for our community.
Phase 1-B: Emergency response and essential workers.
Phase 2: Additional Phase-1 populations if not vaccinated in Phase 1, high risk populations and potentially all Missouri residents (as availability increases).
Based upon the public health warning issued by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, Pettis County is an Extreme Risk County for COVID-19.
A news release says the parameters for being an extreme risk county are a PCR seven-day positivity rate of 15 percent or above and a seven-day case rate of 350 or above per 100,000. As of noon on December 14, there were 3,765 total positive cases in the county, as compared to 3,562 cases on December 7 and 3,304 cases on November 30. This is an increase of 203 cases in the past week and 461 cases in the past two weeks. The positivity rate for the week of December 1-7 was 20.25 percent.
