Given the improvement in case numbers, the Pettis County Health Center will now support the CDC guidance relating to using COVID testing to shorten the quarantine period for non-household contacts from 10 to seven days, provided several provisions are followed:
1. For an individual who has a non-household contact, the person must obtain a COVID-19 test, preferably PCR, no sooner than five days after the last contact with the positive test.
2. The individual wishing to end quarantine early must notify the Health Center case investigator and report the negative test to the Pettis County Health Center. Quarantine cannot be released until at least seven days after the last contact with the positive case.
PCHS Public Health Advisory Updates
The following is a press release from the Pettis County Health Center.
Upon expiration of the Face Covering Rule at 12:01 am, May 12, 2021, the following Public Health Advisory shall go into effect. All residents and visitors to Pettis County are strongly encouraged to follow the practices listed below in order to continue to slow the spread of the virus causing COVID-19.
1. Wear a face covering in accordance with the guidelines from the Center for Disease Control. Face coverings should continue to be worn indoors. Face coverings no longer need to be worn in small groups when everyone present is fully vaccinated or in most outdoor activities except for very large gatherings such as concerts or professional sporting events.

The Pettis County Health Center works every day to strengthen our community by providing opportunities for community members to learn how to lead healthier lives, obtain services that promote health and well- being, be protected from the spread of communicable diseases, and have safe places for seeking child care, dining, recreation, obtaining drinking water and disposing of waste materials. We work daily with community partners to maximize resources within our community to promote Pettis County as a healthy place to live, work, play and worship.
A few thousand COVID-19 vaccinations were administered in Pettis County recently.
During the Pettis County COVID-19 Task Force meeting on Monday, February 1, officials at the Pettis County Health Center said: “Our community provided approximately 3,000 doses of vaccine last week. The partners in providing this large number included Bothwell Regional Health Center, Woods Pharmacy, Katy Trail Community Health, AFC Urgent Care, the Missouri National Guard and the Pettis County Health Center. Additional vaccine will be distributed this week by appointment only.”
Officials also say, “We understand that many people want to be vaccinated, and we are vaccinating as quickly as possible with the available supplies.
