Updated Mar 15, 2021 | 13:17 IST In February provisional food prices and manufactured products, which hold maximum weightage in the WPI index, rose 3.31% and 5.81% respectively on a sequential basis February wholesale inflation rises to 27-month high at food prices rise  |  Photo Credit: Representative Image New Delhi: Wholesale Price Index (WPI) based inflation quickened to 4.17% in the month of February as compared to last month, said the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) Monday. It stood at 2.26% in the same month last year and rose to 2.03% last month, January 2021. Wholesale prices in February this year, which were highest in the last 27 months, rose on the back of rising food prices and manufactured goods.

The Wholesale Price Index-based inflation stood at 4.17 per cent in February 2021 as against 2.03 per cent a month ago. This is the highest since November 2018, when wholesale inflation was at 4.47 per cent. The rate of inflation, based on monthly WPI, stood at (4.17 per cent) (provisional) for the month of February, 2021 (over February, 2020) as compared to 2.26 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year, stated the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
