By Obas Esiedesa THE Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Equalisation Fund, Ahmed Bobboi, has said that the on-going negotiation between the Federal Government and Labour Unions over deregulation of petroleum products pump prices is delaying the implementation of 20 percent rise in the cost of transporting premium motor spirit, petrol, in the pricing template. Bobboi, had in February disclosed that government has approved the increase in bridging cost for petrol from N7.51 to N9.11 in the petrol pricing template of the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, PPPRA. Last month the Petroleum Tanker Drivers, PTD, had embarked on strike over poor remuneration due to failure by their employers, the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners, NARTO, to increase their wages.

FG to encourage use of cooking gas in rural communities

Share The Federal Government is set to encourage the use of cooking gas in every home, especially in rural communities rather than the age-long use of firewood. Executive Secretary, Petroleum Equalisation Fund (PEF), Mr Ahmed Bobboi, who made this known in Abuja, said the government was considering a scheme to transport gas to nooks and crannies of Nigeria, with a view to making it more available in rural areas. According to him, bridging transportation of gas will leverage on existing infrastructure used for paying for the transportation of petroleum products across the country. He said the fund was working to expand domestic gas usage across Nigeria due to the declaration of the decade of gas by the government.

NUPENG directs members to shut down services in Kaduna On Kindly Share This Story: The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has directed its members to shut down services in Kaduna State with effect from May 16. The directive was in compliance with Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) five days warning strike over the sack of workers in the state. NUPENG’s General Secretary, Mr Afolabi Olawale, gave the directive in a letter addressed to Petroleum Tanker Drivers branch of NUPENG on Wednesday. Olawale said compliance with the directive was necessary for the successful execution of the campaign against the alleged anti-labour practices of Kaduna state governor.
