KARACHI: Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has announced a net profit of Rs4.03 billion for the quarter ended December 31, 2020, up 363 percent from the profit of Rs869.66 million recorded in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
The EPS for the quarter under review clocked in at Rs8.86 as against Rs3.91 in the same quarter previous year. PSO also declared a cash dividend of Rs5.0/share.
“The jump in earnings is due to growth in volumes and company recording inventory gains of Rs0.6 billion in Q2FY21 compared to inventory loss of Rs2 billion in Q2FY20, we view,” a report issued by Arif Habib Limited noted.

Karachi: In a year full of events and developments, some positive and some challenging, Pakistan Stock Exchange has announced the recipients of the Top 25 Companies Awards for the year 2019. As per tradition, the criteria for selecting such companies was also updated and upgraded in 2019 in line with the evolving business environment and requirements.
The Top 25 Companies Award is a tradition at Pakistan Stock Exchange which goes back to 1978.
On the announcement of the Top 25 Companies Awards recipients, the MD & CEO of Pakistan Stock Exchange, Mr. Farrukh H. Khan, stated, “Top 25 Companies Award is the most prestigious recognition of overall corporate performance in Pakistan. I would like to congratulate all the companies that have achieved this distinction for 2019.’’
Results: HPCLâs PAT triples; at Rs 2,355 crore
State-run Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) reported Profit after Tax (PAT) of Rs 2,355 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2020, a three-fold increase year on year (yoy). Compared to the same period last year, the company reported a PAT of Rs 747 crore.
For the period April-December 2020, HPCLâs PAT soared by 192 per cent. The oil marketing company recorded a PAT of Rs 7,646 crore as against PAT of Rs 2,610 crore during the same period of previous year.
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) CMD Mukesh Kumar Surana said this gain is due to foreign currency transactions and translations.
