Petronas tests explosion-proof canine robot on Dulang B platform

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 20): Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), which is seeking to deploy robotics technology to inspect unmanned production operations, has completed a test of canine robot ANYmal C on one of its offshore platforms, oil and gas (O&G) news portals reported. Petronas plans to use the robot from Swiss technology player ANYbotics to improve work flows with better data tagging and automatic inspection reporting, according to  Energy Voice. It said ANYbotics, which co-developed the robot with Petronas, will offer it to the global market for use in environments with high risk of explosions. “The pair are targeting commercial use of the ANYmal canine robot in potentially explosive environments by 2022,” the portal said.

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 20): Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), in meeting stakeholders demand, has contributed almost RM1.2 trillion since 1976 in the spirit of giving out to the society, especially when the country is grappling with the Covid-19 pandemic. President and group chief executive officer (CEO) Tengku Muhammad Taufik Tengku Aziz said the contributions included those to the federal government, state governments, tax collection, and payment of oil royalty, and the rate would likely increase in the long run.   The national oil company also did not hold back on its continued commitment to put aside a portion for the National Trust Fund or Kumpulan Wang Amanah Negara (KWAN).

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 20): Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) can afford the RM18 billion dividend for the government that was announced under Budget 2021. Anything more will be deliberated by the board, according to its president and group chief executive officer (CEO) Tengku Muhammad Taufik Tengku Aziz. “If you ask me now if the dividend of RM18 billion announced under Budget 2021 is something we can bear, my answer is yes. It is still within the affordability, he said.  He said if there was any additional request by the government, it would be looked into and would be based from the perspective of liquidity and solvency as Petronas is governed by the Companies Act.
