Asks Union government to take cue from Mumbai municipal authority in managing oxygen supplies

Supreme Court on Wednesday observed that the judges of the top court are also based in Delhi, and they can imagine what the citizens of the capital are going through due to shortage of medical oxygen.
A bench headed by Justice DY Chandrachud said, “We are also in Delhi. We are helpless and have been on phone.”
The bench further added, “We can imagine what citizens are going through.”
During the hearing, the top court also observed that putting officers in jail would not bring oxygen to Delhi, while it asked the Centre about the supply it has made to the capital since May 3.

NEW DELHI: As EU announced a 2.2 million euro assistance package for India on Wednesday, government sources said the aid arriving in India were being distributed to hospitals around the country.
On Wednesday the new charge’d’affaires at the US Embassy, Dan Smith tweeted, “The US-India partnership involves all aspects of the relationship: government, business and people. This week vaccine components arrived in India from the US that will enable the manufacturing of 20 million doses of Covishield vaccine.”
Twenty oxygen concentrators from Russia have been given to Lady Hardinge Medical College in Delhi. One large oxygen generating plant given by Italy has been sent to the ITBP hospital in Noida.
