MOROCCO â Rensselaer Central snapped a five-game skid Tuesday night, beating host North Newton, 55-41.
The Lady Bombers improve to 7-11 with the victory, while North Newton falls to 6-7 overall.
The Bombers got off to a solid start, taking a double-digit lead early against the Spartans, who got 10 points each from Danielle Hinch and Heidi Schleman.
Cayci Ehlinger added nine points with four rebounds two assists and three steals and Grace Hollopeter had four assists and two steals.
Bulldogs too strong for KVHS
CROWN POINT â Class 4A No. 2 ranked Crown Point sped to a 19-2 lead after the first quarter and were never threatened in beating Kankakee Valley, 70-30, on Tuesday night.
Mountain Home High School's basketball teams had their first home outing in three weeks, and it turned out to be a rough one, as they were swept by Russellville
The Mountain Home High School swim teams had another good outing on Tuesday. The Bombers and Lady Bombers both won the meet at John Brown University in Siloam Springs.
The Mountain Home girls’ individual wins include Maddie Lynch in the 200-yard and 50-yard freestyles, Megan Yarborough in the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard breaststroke, Sierra Trogdon in the 100-yard freestyle and Maggie Thompson in the 500-yard freestyle.
For the Bomber boys, Fritz Vetter won the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard breaststroke, Micah Cruse won the 100-yard freestyle, Noah Daugherty took the 200-yard freestyle, and Aidan Wilson won the 100-yard backstroke.
The Mountain Home High School basketball teams came away with a split on Friday at Siloam Springs.
The Bomber boys came from behind to force overtime and went on to beat the Panthers 53-47. After Mountain Home went up 4-2, Siloam Springs followed with a 10-0 run. For much of regulation, the Panthers had the advantage, which got into double digits in the third quarter. But the Bombers forced Siloam Springs into 21 turnovers, allowing them to claw their way back. Jake McGehee hit a three in the corner with less than two minutes left to tie the game at 43, and that would force the extra period. Mountain Home struck first in overtime for the second and final lead change of the night. The Panthers were held to a couple of layups, and the Bombers later posted the six-point win.
The Mountain Home High School swim teams were able to win a New Year’s meet at Pocahontas, as both teams had double the points of runner-up Batesville. Pocahontas’ boys and Valley View’s girls ended up third.
Individually for the Lady Bombers, Maddie Lynch won the 200-yard and 100-yard freestyles, and Joia Traver won the backstroke and breaststroke. On the boys’ side, Asa Norwick won the 200-yard individual medley, Noah Daugherty won the breaststroke, and Daugherty and Fritz Vetter ended up with state times in the 100-yard freestyle.
