• Limit volunteers and visitors.
• For day camps, have strict policies around staying home when someone is sick or is exposed to someone who is sick.
• Contract tracing and other plans for when a case is suspected or confirmed and isolating suspected cases for overnight camps.
How do you know your camp s plan?
Check the camp s website. Their plan should be posted and many will have a full section just on COVID-19 precautions.
Then start asking questions. If the camp was open last year, how did they handle safety protocols? How many campers and staff became sick? What did they learn from last year that they will put into place this year?

Returning to camp
Last summer, Spark Kits and the virtual program became GEN s summer camp. This year, Spark Kits virtual groups will continue, but two in-person camps for third- through eighth-graders will be offered. Own Your Power; Find Your Voice is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 12-16 and Use Your Power: Be an Awesome Advocate is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 26-30. Both are at First Baptist Church of Austin downtown.
They won t be the large camps of years past and will have health checks, mask-wearing, social distancing and hand-washing. We see this as an option, Cuba Lewis says. We want there an option to be there for our girls and our team, too. People can t face another summer from home.
Matthew Baker is seeking his second term as the Place 3 member of the Round Rock City Council, and is being challenged by political newcomer Janneke Parrish.
In the other Round Rock council race, Tina Steiner is running against Kristin Stevens for the Place 5 seat. The winners of the May 1 election will serve a three-year term. Early voting begins Monday and will run through April 27.
In the Place 4 race, Baker, a 52-year-old realtor, said his highest priority is keeping Round Rock the great city it is today. We have the best sense of community, we re nationally ranked as one of the safest cities and the best place to raise a family, Baker said.
