Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic: Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell defeated Gigi Dolin & Cora Jade
205 Live’s first women’s match began with a typical tag team open; a headlock and a pair of quick tags. Jade gained control over LeRae. LeRae took advantage following a Hartwell distraction. Hartwell tagged into the match, landed a sidewalk slam, and tagged LeRae back in.
Jade rocked LeRae with a forearm and secured the hot tag. Hartwell tagged in only to be on the receiving end of Dolin’s leg kicks punctuated with a punt. Jade then rejoined the match, but Hartwell immediately retook control.
If you saw that and thought to yourself, “there’s no way WWE is going to let her work an intergender match against an AEW-contracted wrestler now that her signing is official,” you thought right!

WWE SmackDown Superstar Bayley is backstage for tonight’s WWE NXT episode on the USA Network.
As seen below, Bayley took to Twitter and posted a selfie with the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic trophy. She tagged the photo with the “#DustyClassic” hashtag.
Bayley’s post is interesting as it comes days after she asked Triple H to let her compete in the first-ever NXT Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament, which kicks off tonight. The bracket was announced earlier today, as seen at this link, and Bayley was not one of the participants.
It will be interesting to see if WWE uses main roster Superstars to help with the NXT ratings after last week’s show drew a near record-low audience.
The first round of the first-ever WWE NXT Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic kicked off on tonight’s NXT episode.
The tournament opened with WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix and NXT General Manager William Regal on the show with all 8 participating tag teams, and the Women’s Dusty Classic trophy. Phoenix talked about how NXT has been at the forefront of the Women’s Evolution as images displayed of several main roster Superstars who have come through the black & yellow brand. Phoenix then introduced Mercedes Martinez, Toni Storm, Kayden Carter, and Kacy Catanzaro for a face-off.
This week’s show also marked Beth’s return to calling the action live from ringside at the Capitol Wrestling Center with Vic Joseph and Wade Barrett. Phoenix has worked commentary remotely since the COVID-19 pandemic hit last year.
