Anju Srivastava on what inspired her journey from advertising professional to founder of Wingreens Farms

For someone who had never watered a plant in her life, 59-year-old Anju Srivastava, CEO of Wingreens Farms, has created a thriving farm-to-table company. Within the span of a decade, a project that began by growing herbs on a leased half-acre of land in Gurugram, Haryana, has turned into a start-up success story, with its dips, sauces, and spreads selling in 140 cities across 9,000 stores. Recently, the company acquired juice brand Raw Pressery. If pesto and hummus once unfamiliar to most Indians are now commonplace food items in urban kitchens, it’s thanks to Wingreens. From a small business, the company hopes to become an Rs 500-crore company in the next few years. Marquee private equity firms like Switzerland-based responsAbility Investments and Sequoia Capital have funded it.
