Body found in burned-out car in rural Arkansas; 4 arrested

Four people have been arrested and charged with kidnapping and murder charges relating to human remains found in a burned out car this week in rural north Arkansas, the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office said. A 911 reported the burned vehicle”with what looked like a body inside” just south of Mountain Home at about 10 a.m., the sheriff’s office said. Deputies located the vehicle and sent the body to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Little Rock for an autopsy. “It appears the vehicle had been there for several days,” Sheriff John Montgomery said. Investigators executed search warrants on the car and two homes, one in Mountain Home and one east of Mountain Home, eventually developing several suspects.

Deer meat drive aims to help feed less fortunate in Benton County

They encourage hunters in the area to bring their deer to the sheriff’s office, where inmates will help with the butcher process. The meat is then packaged, and the sheriff’s office invites the less fortunate to come by and pick up whatever they need. “If they come and check in at our front office up there, and they can pick it up Monday through Friday, from 3 to 4:00. Just drop by and let us know what they need, and we’ll be glad to distribute it out,” said Benton County Sheriff Kenny Christopher.

Jenkins did not know the extent of the injuries, but one person was brought to a hospital via helicopter.Deputies were not able to release any names of people involved.Lt. Jenkins said a first responder was one of the people who was injured. That person had minor injuries. The sheriff s office has not yet determined the cause of the explosion. Lt. Jenkins said fire marshals will investigate the cause of the explosion Tuesday.
