The Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force is one of several agencies in Kentucky that have received a grant from the federal Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant.
According to a news release from the Office of the Governor, the program furthers the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet’s mission of assisting law enforcement’s efforts to prevent or reduce crime and violence. Funds awarded may be used to hire additional personnel or purchase equipment, supplies, training, technical assistance and information systems.
The Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force has been awarded $260,468 to develop leads and gather information to combat the sale, distribution and transportation of illegal drugs and narcotics within the Pennyrile Area Development District.

Two Cadiz residents were charged with methamphetamine trafficking following an investigation Thursday afternoon in Princeton.
Officers were assisting the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force at the Food Giant parking lot in Princeton and investigation determined that 30-year old Nicholas Herndon and 36-year old Tiffany Herndon of Cadiz were allegedly trafficking meth.
Police seized 20 grams of meth and a small quantity of synthetic marijuana.
Both suspects were arrested for trafficking in meth and possession of synthetic drugs.
Tiffany Herndon was also sought on a warrant out of Christian County for failing to appear in court and Nicholas was also charged with driving with a suspended license.

A Cadiz couple was arrested in the parking lot of a Princeton grocery store Thursday during an investigation into drug trafficking.
Shortly after 3:00 p.m., Assistant Princeton Police Chief Shane Allison reports officers assisted the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force with the drug investigation where they made contact with 36-year old Tiffany Tyler Herndon and 30-year old Nicholas Herndon in the parking lot at Food Giant. He says the investigation revealed the couple was trafficking methamphetamine. Detectives reportedly seized approximately 20 grams of meth and a small quantity of synthetic marijuana.

An investigation by multiple agencies led to the arrests of two Todd County men on drug trafficking charges.
Personnel from the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force, the South Central Kentucky Drug Force, Todd County Sheriff’s Office and Elkton Police Department conducted an investigation that led to the arrests of 43-year old Daniel Belll of Duke Street and 59-year old Albert Toner of Wilson Toner Road.
A news release says Bell was holding large amounts of cash and picking up large quantities of methamphetamine, marijuana and other drugs that he was bringing into Todd County.
