The Girl Scouts of Westwood are hosting a drive-thru, contactless pick-up booth so you can get your Girl Scout cookies. We’ll have all your favorites, including Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties and the brand-new Toast-Yays.
Customers should order by Feb. 6 for pick-up on Feb. 13 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Hanlon School, 790 Gay St. Additionally, you can purchase cookies to be donated to the Westwood Food Pantry, the Westwood Senior Center and the staff at the COVID unit of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. BOSTON, Jan. 26, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Ariadne Labs today announced three recipients of the Ariadne Labs Spark Grant innovation award. Now in its eighth year, the Spark Grant program was founded to spark new and early-stage ideas focused on addressing gaps in health care and improving delivery of care.
New this year, Ariadne Labs partnered with Harvard Medical School to award two Dean s Innovation Grants in Health Care Delivery to Harvard-affiliated faculty.
The 2020-2021 recipients were chosen following a competitive selection process from a diverse pool of candidates. The work of this year s awardees addresses gaps in care during the transition from prenatal to primary care, the expansion of home-based palliative care services for eligible patients, and the development of protocols for safe postpartum care following cesarean delivery for women in rural Africa.

Microrobot on the end of endoscopic tools could refine minimally invasive surgeries
Robotic engineers from Harvard’s Wyss Institute and John A. Paulson School for Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) have developed a laser-steering microrobot that can be integrated with existing endoscopic tools, which are used in minimally invasive surgeries. Their approach was reported in Science Robotics.
The ends of endoscopic tools must be highly flexible to enable visualization and manipulation of the surgical site in the target tissue. In the case of energy-delivering endoscopic tools, which allow surgeons to cut or dry tissues and stop internal bleeds, a heat-generating energy source is added to the end of the device.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has continued a trend of giving back with a $5 million donation to Boston researchers who aim to create a COVID-19 vaccine and diagnostic tool.
The Musk Foundation donated to Dr. Dan Barouch, the Director of the Center for Virology and Vaccine Research at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Barouch is also a member of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University. Additionally, Galit Alter, a Ragon Institute Professor of Medicine, also received the donation.
The two researchers have made several large strides in the fight against the pandemic. Dr. Barouch developed a COVID-19 vaccine with Johnson & Johnson, and it is currently in the late-stage clinical trial. Alter has developed tests to screen for COVID antibodies that indicate exposure to the virus. One is begin used by Musk’s SpaceX to prevent the spread of the virus,
